Chapter 126 (1)
Pope’s kick reminded Lu Sicheng to check on Tong Yao. When he looked over, he saw Tong Yao sitting there with her eyes peacefully fixed on the backs of YQCB players. The lighting on the stage reflected on her black pupils, her mind seemed to have drifted away under her calm appearance……
Lu Sicheng sighed, pulled her chair out with her still on it, then squatted down in front of her computer to unplug the mouse and keyboard. He then stuffed them rather roughly into her backpack– —
“Be careful.” A small voice sounded behind him: “The keyboard is expensive.”
Lu Sicheng paused in the middle of stuffing the keyboard. He raised his eyebrows and was about to say then you do it yourself……But when he looked back, he was met with the girl’s gloomy eyes and didn’t have the heart to snap at her. He reached over to pinch her face and said: “I’ll buy you a more expensive one if it breaks.” He turned around to continue getting things into her bag, though now his movements were more careful. After he had put everything in, he zipped up the bag.
“Now you know how irritating it is when you act like a babysitter but the person still commands you to be careful?” Little Fatty teased next to them: “Welcome to my world.”
“……”
Lu Sicheng looked up to give Little Fatty a glance. Next to them, Tong Yao sat in her chair with her mind wandering off…… Lu Sicheng stretched his neck to look beyond the stage to take a look at the crowded audience, paused, then lowered his head with his body halfway bent to ask the person behind him: “You want me to carry you on my back as we go offstage?”
Lu Sicheng asked very earnestly.
Tong Yao raised her eyes to give him a look as if to say: are you out of your mind. Then she stood up and reached over to take her own backpack but Lu Sicheng avoided her hand– —
As they were struggling over control of the bag, the interview of the winning team’s mvp had begun at the front of the stage, not too far away. Both of them looked up at the same time in the middle of their tug of war in the darkness. They found Li Junhe was being interviewed. Li Junhe first began with his foreign accented Chinese: “Hello, everyone. I’m YQCB’s ad Pope.” The host asked the first question: [How do you feel now facing off with Chessman in a competition for the first time after two years?]
The question caused some commotion among the fans.
Lu Sicheng released his hold on Tong Yao’s backpack. Tong Yao grabbed her bag and looked up at the man who had locked his eyes on another man.
Tong Yao: “……”
Li Junhe started to speak in Korean.
Then the translator translated for him: “I’m feeling good. No matter whether it’s in the Korean Region or the world tournament, there aren’t many ads who can pressure me– –But only when I’m laning against him, I have the feeling that if I missed a step then the game would be over. So I have to be on guard at every moment.”
Lu Sicheng looked like he was quite satisfied with this answer.
Tong Yao stood on her tippy toes to pinch Lu Sicheng’s chin and shook it: Have you seen enough?
Lu Sicheng pushed her hand away.
The host: [Are you happy winning today’s match?]
Li Junhe: “I’m quite happy about it. I’ve heard that our team didn’t do too well during the Spring season. Everyone has improved a lot since then. But I have to say luck also played a role.”
The host: [Luck?]
Li Junhe: “We were lucky to win the third round. The other team’s ability to execute was a little weaker than us. If they gave up on the nexus turret in the end, they would’ve been able to walk away from danger. Then the match wouldn’t have ended like this.”
The host: [Everyone can see that YQCB has become very coordinated.]
Li Junhe grinned; he looked a bit cynical but his words seemed earnest: “Because our captain is quite mean, he would hang us up so he could beat us if we don’t follow directions.”
The audience burst into laughter after the translation. The host asked again: [We all noticed that after the match you went over to talk to the other team’s players. We know that you’ve known Chessman from the past but we’re surprised to see you talk to Tong Yao for a while. Can you tell us what you said to her?]
Before Li Junhe could answer the question, Tong Yao, after hearing her own id being mentioned, was ready to walk off stage with her bag like an ostrich– — But just as she had stepped out, she and her bag were pulled back by Lu Sicheng. He grabbed the bag from her to put it on his own back and held Tong Yao tight next to him so she was unable to move.
