Chapter 464: Heaven’S Wrath!
Chapter 464: Heaven’s Wrath!
Where was the Mystic Earth Immortal?! When that
True Immortal
was squished into pulp by the mighty Great Decay, few truly realized he was gone.
The descendants of the Three Immortals, butchered by the Nian, gazed blankly at the heavens!
Upon Yun Xiao’s blade, the butterflies impaled ignited into azure flames under the ferocity of the Sword Aura.
SIZZLE! SIZZLE! SIZZLE!
As they were utterly consumed, the unwilling cry of the Mystic Earth Immortal finally vanished into the cosmos.
“The Mystic Earth Immortal is dead!!”
“Yun Xiao, has slain a True Immortal…”
A voice, tinged with both delight and disbelief, suddenly pierced into the ears of many, sharp as a sword.
People trembled and looked up to see the speaker was Yu Nichang, who stood closest to Yun Xiao and the Mystic Earth Immortal, seeing everything clearly.
“Dead?” A desolate and tragic air began to spread among the descendants of the Three Immortals. They were still frantically evading the slaughter of the Nian!
“Impossible!”
“This woman has lost her mind, spouting nonsense!”
“Immortals live forever, how can he die? Laughable, haha!”
“The great ancestor is eternal!”
The descendants of the Three Immortals, along with many Primordial Ruins inhabitants, burst into laughter. The Mystic Earth Immortal dead? They wouldn’t believe it even if they were beaten to death!
And so, the people were split into two extremes.
On one side, those in white robes, along with Yu Nichang and Feng Qingcong, stared at Yun Xiao in utter shock, jubilant and tearful.
Amid the cold laughter and mockery of their wildest dreams, a voice rang out, proclaiming Yun Xiao’s deed as the century’s greatest joke. Mocking laughter echoed all around.
“Is there truly no hope left?” Yu Nichang could only sigh at the sight of these frenzied and prideful people, her willingness to intervene dwindling.
“Lian Xi!” In that moment, a critical event unfolded. The Immortal Fire on the compass suddenly extinguished. A woman in white, along with the compass, fell from the sky, caught by Yu Nichang.
“How is she?”
The crowd in white robes gathered anxiously.
Yu Nichang cradled Lian Xi, her hands glowing as light flowed into the girl’s delicate body. “Her injuries are minor, just mild burns on the skin. Some ointment will heal her,” she said, finally allowing her tension to release as tears fell onto Lian Xi’s face.
The hundreds around them stared at the white-robed youth with dream-like expressions, overwhelmed by the breathtaking feats he achieved in just a few days.
Lian Xi’s eyes fluttered open, her gaze moving past Yu Nichang to Yun Xiao still in the sky, her eyes filled with unspeakable depths.
This scene heralded chaos.
“The Primordial Compass is now ownerless, the Immortal Fire extinguishes automatically!”
Among the crowd, the Jade Immortal Tower Master collapsed, his eyes wide in shock.
“This means, the Mystic Earth Immortal really…”
This truth hit like a furious hammer, smashing into the hearts of many. The descendants of the Three Immortals and the Yin-Yang Immortals screamed in agony, their decades-long beliefs shattered instantaneously, like a sword piercing the brain and stirring relentlessly, causing soul-rending pain.
The less than 30,000 descendants of the Three Immortals were in utter despair. They gasped, reaching out only to grasp at air.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
One by one, these beings of noble birth and lofty lineage, who stood above all life, collapsed to the ground, clutching their necks and gasping for air, unable to speak a word as blood spilled from their mouths.
Many eyes nearly popped from their sockets, bleeding profusely.
“The Mystic Earth Immortal, slain by Yun Xiao?”
“Ahhh!”
Each time they recalled this fact, the noble ones felt as if pierced by a sword, their bodies convulsing in agony.
In such despair, the Nian rampaged through the crowd, its bites and claws leaving nothing but shattered bodies and blood in their wake, slicing through flesh as easily as a knife through soft tofu.
Many of high status, like those akin to Celestial Officials or younger geniuses revered by all, now stood petrified, awaiting death amidst their own filth.
No matter their previous stature, they were now engulfed in a mix of blood and excrement.
“These descendants of the Three Immortals, about to be wiped out… If the lineage ends, and another True Immortal falls… are they doomed?” Suddenly, the Jade Immortal Tower Master posed this question, his eyes bleeding black blood.
Curiously, this black blood seemed to clear his vision, reducing the redness in his eyes.
“If the Sky Source Immortal and the Human Zenith Immortal were to fall, the Primordial Ruins would lose its rulers,” another elder stated, trembling at the thought.
The extent of loss suffered by the Three Immortals and their descendants was terrifying.
“Yun Xiao is terrifying… Wait, Jade Immortal Tower Master, why have you aged so much?” An elder, in the midst of his shock, suddenly noticed.
“I’ve aged?” The Jade Immortal Tower Master looked in a mirror, finding wrinkles and signs of bodily decay he hadn’t noticed before.
“You all seem to have aged, what’s going on?” He saw that many around him appeared older as well.DiiScôver 𝒏𝒆w stori𝒆s on no/𝒗/e()/lbin(.)com
Surrounded by ancient families of the Primordial Ruins, even the common folk outside, those not yet afflicted by aging curses, showed clear signs; many young men and women now had white hair, not the glowing silver of youth but the dull grey of decay.
“Why have I aged like this?”
“Mother, why is my hair white, sob!”
“Heavens, why do I have so many wrinkles, I’m only 17!”
In that moment, among the tens of millions in the Primordial Ruins, many eyes bled black before clearing. No longer did they mourn the Mystic Earth Immortal’s demise; instead, they panicked over their dwindling lifespans. What was lost could not be reclaimed.
“Why? Why?”
Chaos and desolation seized the Immortal Ruins once again.
Still, countless eyes, red with fury, fixed upon Yun Xiao, hurling curses.
“The slayer of Immortals, the Three Immortals were divine envoys sent by the heavens. Your defiance, your act of slaying an Immortal, has breached the heavenly laws!”
“You’re doomed now, with the heavens’ wrath upon you, you shall not reincarnate for 100 lifetimes!”
The roar of condemnation was like a tidal wave, crashing against Yun Xiao’s heart.
Yun Xiao surveyed the crowd.
“Those whose eyes have cleared, who fear the loss of their lifespan, are but half of those still red-eyed.”
This revealed that each of the Three Immortals had deceived a third of all beings.
Now, only those enslaved by the Mystic Earth Immortal were freed, realizing the fear of losing lifespan. They, considering the character of those still cursing Yun Xiao, might soon grasp the truth…
“Yun Xiao!” The Jade Immortal Tower Master, ignoring the chaos, shouted, “Why have we aged? Were the Three Immortals hiding something from us?” By posing this question, he stood as a rational being.
Yun Xiao had seized his tower, slain his daughter—facts that were undeniable. But these did not prevent him from acting rationally.
“Why indeed?” More and more people grew impatient with the still cursing crowd, turning to Yun Xiao with their queries.
Suddenly, their anger towards Yun Xiao dissipated. They couldn’t even muster hatred anymore. Their own lives mattered more to them. Though selfish, this was the response of normal people…
“Dean Yu, please share the truth with everyone,” Yun Xiao said, lowering his head.
