Chapter 440: False Accusations! Family Execution!

Chapter 440: False Accusations! Family Execution!

In the Nine Hells, a desolate wilderness sprawled, where butterflies of gold, silver, and black swarmed denser by the moment, entrapping the Immortal Asylum in a dazzling prison of light. The Nian had fallen silent, his roars ceasing as the land morphed into a landscape of eerie peculiarities.

On the dimly lit pathways, a mass of snakes and insects writhed and crawled like waves upon the sea, their movements rustling with ghostly whispers.

“Father, uncles. Tian Ding requests an audience,” suddenly, the voice of the Sky Source Son cut through the silence outside the Immortal Asylum.

This gaunt old man, hunched and withered, hovered outside the butterfly formation. He waited, and soon beneath the formation, a black face materialized, formed of dense sword energies. When it spoke, it was as if a sea of swords trembled with its words.

“What is it?” the black face inquired.

“Uncle, please look.” The Sky Source Son placed a Projection Orb into the butterfly formation.

The black face inside the formation watched it once, then fell into a thoughtful silence, likely conversing with the other two.

After a long pause, the black face decreed, “I will deal with the matters in the Blood Devil Ruins. Return to the Primordial Ruins to preside over them. Ensure that the remnants of the Martial Emperor Clan are eradicated completely.”

“Yes!” The Sky Source Son nodded. From these instructions, it was clear what the three Immortals prioritized.

The first was the Nian and the Immortal Asylum. The Sky Source Immortal and Mystic Earth Immortal were to remain here.

The second was the True Devil! A single viewing decided that the Human Zenith Immortal would personally intervene.

Finally, the third was the remnants of the Martial Emperor Clan. Left to the descendants, indicating its lesser importance in their eyes.

“The Nian of the Immortal Asylum, a capital for ascension, could change much.”

“The remnants of the Devil Ark, the return of the other races, must be nipped in the bud!”

Lastly, cleaning up the

“With that being the case, I’ll not bother with devils but focus solely on Three Immortals Day…” With a sinister smile on his aged face, Sky Source Son took to the skies.

Day broke again, and just as Yun Xiao predicted, Dean Yu, while notifying the Three Great Ruins, also leaked the news about the reemergence of the devils to the public.

When Yun Xiao emerged from the Divine Dawn Pavilion, the most heated discussions were about the resurgence of the True Devils!

Merely hours before, even the students of the Primordial Academy were debating whether Yun Xiao was the true culprit behind two bloody incidents.

“Brother Xiao!” As Yun Xiao approached the base of the Primordial Pagoda, Ah Yao and the others rushed to greet him. Here, tens of thousands of academy students had gathered!

After his name was

cleared

, Yun Xiao was no longer seen as a deranged serial killer; his popularity soaring overnight.

“Dharma Crown Yun!”

Even if the Temple Head revoked the title, within the cheers of tens of thousands of students, he remained their Dharma Crown.

“Brother Xiao, I’m so happy for you, finally no more carrying the blame!” Ah Yao said with a big smile.

“Just half an hour ago, hundreds of thousands of people outside the Primordial Academy were cursing you, and now they’ve all run off, faces flushed with embarrassment.”

“These people have no brains, the Temple Head of Mystic Zenith Temple herself said that you had the Blood Bat Curse on you and never left the Divine Dawn Pavilion. They wouldn’t believe it, and now they’re the ones embarrassed!”

The crowd buzzed with discussion.

They were genuinely happy for Yun Xiao; otherwise, with the True Devil’s descent, they wouldn’t dare to feel so at ease.

“Thank you all, for helping clear my name,” Yun Xiao said, expressing his gratitude with a serious face.

“It’s what we should do, we all believe in you!”

“You’re open and honorable. You never hide when you kill.”

Yun Xiao felt somewhat ashamed upon hearing this; after all, he was the true culprit behind both the massacre at the Jade Immortal Tower and Pathseeker Society… Not only that, but he also had a hand in the events in the Blood Devil Ruins.

“What about Senior Brother Chi and the others? I heard they’ve returned,” Yun Xiao changed the subject.

Ah Yao scratched his head, “They went back to the Blood Devil Ruins.”

“Why?” Yun Xiao was taken aback.

“Chi Yang said, with more resentment demons spawning there and the True Devil’s descent, the people are in greater danger, and he wants to do something about it,” Ah Yao explained.

“A belief worth admiring,” Yun Xiao nodded in approval. He suddenly felt reassured. Along the way, there were still many idealists, doing things similar to what he was doing. Although their methods varied, at least, they were not alone in their endeavors!

“I heard there are many blood resentment demons there, and the Merits Arena has issued endless demon-slaying tasks. Our brothers are planning to go as well,” Ah Yao shared.

“Yes, we’re all going.” Though some were afraid, a sense of responsibility buoyed their spirits.

“Brother Xiao, will you go?” one disciple asked.

“Don’t be silly. He can’t leave the Primordial Ruins. Tomorrow is Three Immortals Day, and he has his trial the day after…” another person said.

At this, the mood dipped.

“Don’t worry, everyone. Brother Xiao has great luck; he’ll be fine!” Ah Yao declared loudly.

“That’s right! We’ve got skills and haven’t yet done something meaningful for this world. We can’t waste that.”

They all seemed optimistic.

Yun Xiao smiled at them, then asked, “What about Lil Xi?”

“She’s challenging the tenth level of the Primordial Pagoda,” many replied in unison.

Clearly, this was why they had gathered here. When Yun Xiao first arrived at the Primordial Academy, she was challenging the eighth level.

“Why is there no projection to watch?” Yun Xiao inquired.

The space below the Primordial Pagoda was empty.

“Above the ninth level, it’s not about combat strength but special enlightenment, which is not made public,” Ah Yao explained.

“Got it.”

Meaning, to know if she could succeed, they had to wait here.

Yun Xiao looked up, gazing at the tenth level of the Primordial Pagoda.

“She’s integrating and taking control of the Primordial Pagoda,” Blue Star suddenly said quietly.

“Like Chen Xi controlling the Primordial Bell of the Heavenly Realm?” Yun Xiao asked.

“Yes, if she succeeds, she should have a clearer understanding of her mission, and her abilities should improve.” Blue Star nodded.

“Is there a risk she might recognize me?” Yun Xiao asked.

“Normally, no, since she’s just an incarnation of transcending calamity… but if she succeeds, her connection to her true self will definitely strengthen. So, you’ll need to be more cautious in how you interact with her from now on, keeping some things back,” Blue Star advised seriously.

“Understood,” Yun Xiao nodded.

“When do you plan to dig up her heart and let Chen Xi in? If you let her succeed in taking over the Primordial Pagoda, it might be difficult for you to do anything to her for a while,” Blue Star said with a smirk.

“Seems like someone’s found a new love and forgotten the old,” Red Moon scoffed.

“Shut up.” Yun Xiao gritted his teeth.

There were some things he didn’t fully trust Blue Star and Red Moon on. Trust in one’s intuition was paramount. So, the decision on when to take that step, Yun Xiao found himself unable to make at the moment.

“Great, he’s really fallen for her,” Red Moon exclaimed noisily.

“Fallen for your sister…” Yun Xiao retorted, then joined the other disciples in silent vigil under the Primordial Pagoda.

It was then he faintly heard sobbing!

“Lian Xi! Lian Xi! Save me!”

Yun Xiao paused, “Whose voice is that?”

With a rustle, the crowd parted to create a path. A pale-faced girl in a pink dress stumbled forward, crying and running in such a manner that it tugged at the heartstrings.

“Liu Yingying?” Seeing her aim for the Primordial Pagoda, Yun Xiao quickly blocked her path.

Liu Yingying, in her panic, ran into his arms, her tears and fear spilling onto Yun Xiao.

“What’s wrong!” Yun Xiao asked sternly, gripping her arms.

“Save… Save…” Liu Yingying looked at him like a drowning person.

“Calm down! Speak!” Yun Xiao roared.

Despite finding Liu Yingying somewhat unpleasant when they first met, and still being somewhat annoyed by her, she was, after all, a sister figure who grew up with Lian Xi, and her family had shown kindness to Lian Xi.

Naturally, Yun Xiao would help if there was trouble.

Under Yun Xiao’s stern command, Liu Yingying finally calmed down a bit. Clutching his clothes, she urgently said, “They… they came to our home and found some Devil Desolation Pearls. Then, they accused us of secretly serving the devils and ordered our entire family to be executed!”

“Serving the devils, ordering your entire family to be executed?” Yun Xiao frowned deeply.

“The Primordial Guards came to arrest me! My parents, brother, sister, grandparents, all were captured, lined up at the door, all to be beheaded… Save us! Save…” Liu Yingying was too terrified; she shook uncontrollably as she spoke, barely able to catch her breath, as if she were choking on her words, her eyes filled with tears.

“Brother Xiao, it’s definitely a set-up!” Ah Yao said angrily. As for who was behind it, the answer was clear.

“Lian Xi!” Liu Yingying broke free from Yun Xiao’s grasp, fell to her knees with a thud, and cried out in a heart-wrenching voice, “Save our family, please… I beg you!”

BOOM!

Right after her plea, a girl dressed in white with red-rimmed eyes leaped down from the tenth level of the Primordial Pagoda.
