Chapter 482: Dreamsea Abalones Exterminated!
Chapter 482: Dreamsea Abalones Exterminated!
In the aftermath of the clash, every human cultivator and Dreamsea Abalone beheld the crumbling corpse of the Sky Source Immortal. A profound silence enveloped them, as words found no passage through their shock.
It wasn’t until moments later that a thunderous roar of celebration burst from the ranks of the human cultivators.
“Yun Xiao…” Even Shen Cang and Dean Yu, leading figures of the Primordial Ruins, found themselves with eyes brimming with tears, their hearts stirred to their depths.
“In mere days upon ascending to the Primordial Ruins, he slew both the Mystic Earth Immortal and the Sky Source Immortal!”
Doubts about his sub-par cultivation were now rendered meaningless.
“With the fall of these two Immortals, the inhabitants of the Primordial Ruins will largely be freed, and the myriad worlds of humanity can dare to hope again!” Dean Yu whispered, her eyes moist with tears.
With the Sky Source Immortal gone, and only the Human Zenith Sword Immortal remaining, fear had lost its grip.
“A miracle! A divine being!” Feng Qingcong laughed. “Lian Xi, that girl, indeed has an eye for talent.”
“This lad was brought to the academy by me. The moment I laid eyes on him, I knew he was extraordinary!” Yun Dahe laughed heartily, patting his bald head.
Facing an enemy nine times their strength, Yun Xiao led them to carve a path to victory. In the aftermath, gasping for breath, they erupted into laughter, their eyes gleaming with respect and tears.
The Dreamsea Abalones, in contrast, wept tears of a different kind. In their desperation to curry favor with Yun Xiao, the remaining injured transformed into human forms, kneeling before him in the guise of beauties, their tears inducing sympathy.
“Exalted Yun…” The Mirage Immortal knelt before Yun Xiao, grasping at the hem of his trousers with a feminine voice and pleading posture, “It was the vile and brutal Sky Source Immortal, wielding his heavenly influence, who forced us against you. We did not harm any of your human allies today. We beg you to show mercy and spare our lineage.”
“You mean to say, I should thank you for not succeeding in killing any of us?” Yun Xiao looked down upon the Mirage Immortal.
Even with just a glimpse of his eyes, the dense aura of demonic fierceness around him was utterly terrifying.
“We dare not! We were wrong!” The Mirage Immortal sobbed, prostrating himself, “We Dreamsea Abalones wish to serve under you for all eternity, forever holding you in the highest esteem.”
“Are you certain?” Yun Xiao arched an eyebrow.
“Utterly certain!” The Mirage Immortal saw a glimmer of hope, his voice tender with earnestness.
“So, you’ll serve as my Sword Ring first.”
As Yun Xiao’s words faded, he thrust forward his three-foot azure blade, piercing straight through the heart of the Mirage Immortal.
“Yun, Exalted Yun…” The Mirage Immortal’s hands trembled as they grasped the sword in front of him, his eyes filled with despair as he looked up at Yun Xiao.
Before this moment, Dean Yu and the others felt a pang of nervousness at the Mirage Immortal’s plea for mercy.
After all, Yun Xiao was wreathed in an almost tangible demonic aura. But his swift action to execute the Mirage Immortal without a second thought scattered their fears like chaff in the wind.
Yun Xiao twisted his sword, shredding the Mirage Immortal’s heart into tatters. He then looked up to Dean Yu and Shen Cang and commanded, “Slaughter all of them. Turn them into Blood Crystal Sword Rings.”
“At once!” The 200 human cultivators, their minds aflame with fervor and hearts surging with a tempest of martial zeal, immediately charged into battle against the kneeling Dreamsea Abalones.
“Why… Why do you exterminate demons when you yourself are engulfed in demonic miasma?” the Mirage Immortal gasped, his life fading, his despair palpable.
“What constitutes my body is of no consequence,” Yun Xiao replied as he ignited his demonic essence, burning it as he spoke. “What matters is you chose to be my enemy.”
Choices at the outset mattered greatly!
“So, you don’t fight for humanity; you’re just selfish…” In his final moments, the Mirage Immortal’s face relaxed considerably, even managing a slight smile. He died enlightened! This answer… it convinced him.
Yun Xiao, expressionless, turned the Mirage Immortal into a Blood Crystal Sword Ring.
The Mirage Immortal was close to the realm of True Immortals, a formidable being in his own right.
With a snap, Yun Xiao affixed him to the Heaven Burial Sword Soul, then transformed the Sword Soul back into a Flying Sword, casting it towards the fleeing Dreamsea Abalones with a flick of his wrist.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
THUD! THUD! THUD!
As a slayer immune to illusions, Yun Xiao reduced the effective combat power of the Dreamsea Abalones by more than two thirds. Once they could no longer ensnare the human cultivators in their illusions, their extermination was merely a matter of time.
In the cramped confines of the Immortal Asylum, originally meant to trap Yun Xiao, the tables had turned disastrously on them.
“Kill!” Yun Xiao’s eyes glinted with cold light, his figure flickering through the darkness. His swordsmanship was ever-changing, claiming countless souls beneath its edge!
“He’s ruthless.”
“A talent ripe for shaping.”
“Even the Nian succumbed to his appetite.”
“He carries himself with pride, a trait we could exploit and deceive.”
“Shall we choose him then?”
“It all depends on the will of the one in the eighteenth level.”
Beneath the Immortal Asylum, in the unfathomable depths of the earth, ancient voices echoed invisibly through time.
Of course, such whispers never reached Yun Xiao’s ears.
His eradication of the Dreamsea Abalones was a mere whim.
His Flying Sword, swifter than the desperate escapes of the Dreamsea Abalones, impaled each just as they frantically reached the gates of the Immortal Asylum. Their hearts pierced, they fell, tears staining the ground.
Fear was etched deeply onto the faces of these demons, once sovereigns of the Oblivion Demon Sea.
“Exalted Yun, in all my life, I’ve harmed no one…”
THUD!
The last of the Dreamsea Abalone beauties stared blankly at Yun Xiao before collapsing into a pool of blood.
“Whether you’ve harmed anyone or not is irrelevant to me. By standing against me, you’ve sealed your fate,” Yun Xiao said, his tone even.
“Do you truly believe that?” Blue Star suddenly asked, curious.
“You’d prefer I did,” Yun Xiao replied.
“Tsk…!”
“Our bro is actually sharp-tongued but soft-hearted like tofu.” Red Moon chuckled.
“Why tofu?”
“Well, I suddenly have a craving for tofu,” Red Moon said, a hint of bashfulness in his voice.
“There’s no milk in tofu, though.”
“Squeeze it hard enough, and there will be,” Red Moon insisted.
“…” Yun Xiao was left speechless…
Having laid waste to the Immortal Asylum, Yun Xiao paused to glance back, finding the ground awash with blood. Beneath the purifying flames, the Dreamsea Abalones had all been transformed into Sword Rings. Their possessions now lay in the hands of the human cultivators.
“Here are all the cultivation resources the Dreamsea Abalones carried with them,” Dean Yu said, presenting several Bags of Holding.
“They’re yours,” Yun Xiao offered with a smile.
“Ours?” Dean Yu pressed her lips together, a touch of embarrassment in her voice. “To be honest, we contributed little to today’s victory. We nearly hindered you.”
“You all took poison to shield against illusions, earning my respect. Compared to an anomaly like me, the world needs people like you who, even in the face of certain death, strive to protect justice,” Yun Xiao said, his gaze soft.
Dean Yu and the others were taken aback by his words.
“Do we truly matter?” Shen Cang said with a bitter smile.
“Seniors, the world needs more of you for true fairness and justice. Alone, I can change only so much; it ultimately rests with you and how you educate and inspire the next generation,” Yun Xiao replied respectfully.
Dean Yu and her peers exchanged looks, their eyes shining a bit brighter with a renewed sense of purpose and determination.
“Then, we’ll accept them,” Dean Yu said, her smile gentle as she looked at Yun Xiao, as if there were more she wished to say.
“What’s on your mind?” Yun Xiao asked suddenly.
Dean Yu’s gaze softened as she looked at him. “Lian Xi speaks highly of you. She’s right. Though you’re a law unto yourself, acting without restraint, you have the heart of a pure child. You’ll never go wrong.”
“And who is wrong?” Yun Xiao asked with a smile.
“The world is,” Dean Yu replied.
Yun Xiao inhaled softly, his mind swirling with thoughts.
“Let’s head back,” Yun Xiao said.
The group gathered their belongings and stepped out through the Radiance Gate.
As he reached the threshold, Yun Xiao looked back at the depths of the Immortal Asylum.
“What is it?” Blue Star asked, noticing his solemn expression.
“I can’t shake the feeling that many eyes are watching me,” Yun Xiao said.
“The Nian on the first level had some tricks; I don’t doubt the prisoners in the 17 levels below must hold more,” Blue Star commented.
“When can I take it with me?” Yun Xiao inquired.
“I’m afraid that depends on whether the Immortal Asylum agrees,” Blue Star replied.
“So, whether it’s the Sky Source Immortal or the Dreamsea Abalones, aspiring to possess the Immortal Asylum is nothing but a fool’s dream.” Yun Xiao chuckled.
“Exactly!” Blue Star’s eyes gleamed with mischief. “However, the forces behind the Sky Source Immortal might also covet the Immortal Asylum. Perhaps they possess the means to take it away?”
Yun Xiao glanced outside, sighing. “I’m not worried about them stealing the Immortal Asylum. I’m more concerned about their actions affecting the Nine Hells, or worse, causing the collapse of the Heavenly Realm and the Divine Continent.”
“Missing your Senior Sister Zhao?” Blue Star teased.
At the mention of her, a contented smile spread across Yun Xiao’s face, his expression that of an innocent child. “Yes, I miss her.”
After leaving the Immortal Asylum, Yun Xiao told Dean Yu, “You all head back. I have a small matter to attend to and will follow shortly.”
“Are you going to dispel this form of yours?” Dean Yu asked softly, her intelligence shining through in her guess.
Seeing Yun Xiao nod, she spoke softly, “Go then. We don’t know if the Arbiter Immortal is friend or foe; don’t let him see the demonic blood in you.”
After speaking, she glanced at the other human powerhouses and added, “I’ll remind them not to speak carelessly.”
“Alright.” Yun Xiao nodded.
Their conversation had significantly bridged the gap between Yun Xiao and her. He acknowledged her worth, and in turn, she almost regarded him as she did Lian Xi.
After parting ways with them, Yun Xiao visited the
resting place
of the War Princess.
By this time, Moon Fairy had already left his body.
“What in the world are you?” the Nian demanded, eyeing him suspiciously.
Yun Xiao ignored it as Moon Fairy vanished into the darkness.
Having gained much from the Sky Source Immortal and the Dreamsea Abalones, Moon Fairy’s cultivation likely rose to just below that of a True Immortal.
Yun Xiao unearthed a crystal coffin. Within, the War Princess was breathtaking even in death, her pallor not dimming the allure of her fiery figure.
“Alright time to wake up this
Sleeping Beauty
.” Yun Xiao shook his head with a smile.
As he spoke, the Mortal Dust Devil Blood flowed out from him and gradually infused itself back into the body of the War Princess. With the return of the Blood Base, her body slowly regained its vibrant, lush vitality.
“Wake up, my princess,” Yun Xiao whispered softly.
