Chapter 835: Avenging Ghost
Chapter 835: Avenging Ghost
Proofreader: Papatonks
Under the sun’s warm glow, a soft breeze touched a still lake. The warm air traced the flowers, grass and trees, which they received by sprouting new leaves.
Despite the blissful scenery, one man in black had a permanent scowl on his face, looking like a ghost from hell with that stone-cold expression. The icy aura coming off him was biting as he stood in the lake.
Hum~
He gently pointed in the air, making the air shimmer around his finger.
Smirking, he muttered, “So this is Heaven Trailing Sect’s defensive array. I might have not come here before, but I’m sure I came to the right place.”
A crackling sound came as his left eye held a black thunderflame. It spread in the air and burned a three meter hole in space, revealing a totally different scene.
The man had a mocking smile as he entered with confidence. A piercing sound rang out throughout the sect the next second.
“Enemy attack!”
The shouts came from everywhere as they all converged around the man in black. There were tens of thousands, mostly disciples in the Radiant Stage, with few at peak and even fewer in the Ethereal Stage.
The man shook his head, “Heaven Trailing Sect is a middle-three sect after all so why do I only see ignorant pups in the Radiant Stage and some even in the Profound Heaven Stage? Why, did all your elders die out?”
“You dare barge into Heaven Trailing Sect? Do you have a death wish?”
A familiar face popped in just a hundred meters away, still as cocky and obnoxious as ever, “Weren’t you looking for an Ethereal Stage expert? Well, here I am. Humph, a 1st layer Ethereal Stage cultivator isn’t even worth our elders’ time.”
The man in black halted, looking at him with a shake of his head.
The disciples around were excited, buttering up, “Young master is the best! Your mere presence has rendered him mute. You’re truly the best model for any of us.”
“Right you are. Young master had shown extraordinary valor and bravery in the Double Dragon Gathering. With you here, no elder is needed to deal with outsiders. He-he-he…”
Everyone clamored while the young master looked even more smug and cocky, if that was possible.
The man in black let out a thick condescending chuckle for some odd reason.
The young master barked, “What are you laughing at?”
“At how you twisted facts. You, brave at the Double Dragon Gathering? Did you even get to showcase yourself?” The man in black mocked, “Ren Cong, you’re lying to your poor junior brothers who haven’t seen the Double Dragon Gathering just so you could bask in their praises?”
The son of Heaven Trailing Sect’s Sect Leader, Ren Cong, shuddered.
Well sure, he was a genius in his own right, reaching Ethereal Stage quite early, but that was relative to the scale. When compared to the whole of western lands, he didn’t make the cut.
To say nothing more of Double Dragon Gathering, where geniuses are a dime a dozen. The top genius of Heaven Trailing Sect ended up suffering more than ever.
But who was dumb enough to say that after returning? What then would become of his name, his image, the attention he was getting? So he made himself the tragic hero, having his team set up by demonic cultivator experts, with only him surviving after he fought with his life.
This earned him greater fame and the disciples’ admiration.
As the future sect leader, fame couldn’t be more important, far more than his integrity. This was why the elders kept silent too.
Now that some weirdo showed up exposing his clowning at Double Dragon Gathering, he was revolted, “Who the hell are you?”
“Who am I? Ha-ha-ha…”
Raising his head with a chuckle, he revealed the one face Ren Cong hated the most in this world, “Young master Ren, how’s your rose bud faring? Does it still hurt?”
Face twitching, Ren Cong clenched his glutes in reflex, hiding his trauma with rage and hatred, “Zhuo Fan, you haven’t died yet?”
“Die?”
Zhuo Fan cocked an inquisitive eyebrow, his smile ever mocking, “Who knows? Maybe I’m dead already. But seeing you bastards so carefree, it rubs me the wrong way. I’d be so much better to have you join me in hell.”
“Cut your damn act!” Ren Cong shouted.
Zhuo Fan shook his head, “You think I’m playing? Ha-ha-ha, maybe I’m just a ghost right now, one that wants to drag you all to hell.”
Zhuo Fan’s eyes flashed with bloodlust.
Ren Cong shuddered backward in fear. He knew very well what Zhuo Fan could do. But with so many fellow junior brothers around, he couldn’t fail to perform his role, “All you know is how to be cocky. You can’t do anything to us by yourself. What a joke! An obnoxious prick like you isn’t worth getting my hands dirty. Guys, get him!”
Ugh!
No one moved. The disciples looked at Ren Cong in hesitation.
[Hey, young master, aren’t you being mercurial here, sir? We get that you’re far too precious and don’t want to do it yourself, but can’t you see his level?]
[Most of us are in the Radiant Stage, with just a few fresh Ethereal Stage cultivators. Are you telling us to give our lives away?]
[You’re the only real Ethereal Stage expert here, so stop mincing words and attack!]
All looked off at Ren Cong, who noticed his mishap and froze.
[Ignorant fools! You think I can win? My butt’s still aching here! And you want me to fight this freak? Waiting for the elders is much better.]
[What’s taking them so long anyway…]
Ren Cong was waiting tensely while the disciples waited for him to move. It was truly comical how stiff the entire situation was, especially with all of them surrounding one guy.
Zhuo Fan caught on and laughed, going for Ren Cong, “Since you won’t come, I’ll go to you. Young master Ren, weren’t you a hero at Double Dragon Gathering? Show your juniors what their great senior can do, ha-ha-ha…”
“Yeah!” The disciples cheered, eager to see a good show.
“Zip it!”
Face twitching, Ren Cong glared at the culprit, on the verge of crying.
[That’s Zhuo Fan we’re talking about. Aside from the fact I’m not his match, I’ll be sure to die in a few blows!]
[These heartless fools, they only know how to flatter. Now that an enemy has come, you throw me to the wolves. You’re killing me here!]
Ren Cong was seething in anger at his juniors’ betrayal while also waving his hands around at Zhuo Fan, “Wait, let’s talk this out. I don’t want to fight.”
“Oh, but I do, ha-ha-ha…” Zhuo Fan laughed, not stopping for a second.
Ren Cong’s heart thumped in shock, his first instinct was to flee, even forgetting to put up a Yuan Qi shield.
“Don’t you harm my son!”
Whoosh!
A mighty pressure spread as a strong man appeared before Ren Cong and punched Zhuo Fan.
Zhuo Fan’s Qilin arm flashed red as he punched as well.
Bam!
Zhuo Fan fell back to his previous spot while the man trailed the ground for ten meters.
There were clear marks left on the ground while his fist shook from the clash.
“Sect Leader!”
Dozens of elders arrived just then, shocked at the result
Ren Xiaoyun looked grave as he glared at Zhuo Fan, “Who are you, sir, to trespass into Heaven Trailing Sect?”
“Father, he’s Zhuo Fan. He came for revenge.”
Ren Cong was giddy about reporting this fact with hateful eyes.
[My help is here, Zhuo Fan. Now you’re done for, ha-ha-ha…]
Ren Xiaoyun looked baffled, “Aren’t you supposed to be dead?”
“Ha-ha-ha, that’s not important right now. What is though, is that everyone here will die today!” Zhuo Fan had an evil smirk plastered on his face.
Shuddering, Ren Xiaoyun laughed, “Ha-ha-ha, a ghost coming back for revenge. So Demon Scheming Sect and Mystical Heaven Sect some time ago must be your work as well, I assume. But don’t you go lump Heaven Trailing Sect with those two. Since you bothered coming here, though, then let me send you off to hell! I’ll make sure you won’t come back this time either!”
“Well, aren’t you confident?” Zhuo Fan raised an eyebrow and mocked…
