Chapter 86 (1)
Tong Yao went back to the arena with a half eaten bread. The second round had already started……Looking at the fans sitting in the audience with various fluorescent boards supporting their idols, Tong Yao began to feel upset again. She had lost her interest in watching another game and wished to finish her interview as soon as possible so she could go back to base and hug her cat. She went directly backstage without stopping.
What she didn’t expect was the person she saw in the break room.
“Captain?” Tong Yao paused as she was pushing the door into the break room: “Why are you here?”
“The interview changed to double interviews, so I’m here.”
Lu Sicheng looked up from his cell phone and saw a drenched Tong Yao at the door– –She was soaked; her hair stuck to her face like she had just been fished out of the water……Lu Sicheng put down the cell phone and raised an eyebrow: “How did you end up looking like this? Didn’t you borrow an umbrella from someone?”
“I did. It’s just that I ran into a little accident.” Tong Yao walked into the room and sneezed because of the cold air from the air conditioning. She sniffled: “I gave the umbrella to someone else.”
Lu Sicheng threw a blanket that was lying around in the room to Tong Yao, then brought a warm, dry handkerchief from who knew where– –Tong Yao took the blanket and wrapped it around herself and used the handkerchief to wipe her hair: “Where’re the interviewers?”
“They’re waiting. I thought you would want to finish watching the second round, so I asked them to wait.” Lu Sicheng lowered his eyes to take a look at Tong Yao, then paused before asking: “Why haven’t you gone to watch the match?”
Tong Yao stopped her hand in the middle of wiping her hair.
Lu Sicheng raised his eyebrows.
Tong Yao quickly resumed wiping her hair but bent her head lower: “I don’t feel like watching it.” She mumbled in a low voice: “I feel bad watching those fans……Why do they want to come here, what are they after? The heroes in their minds? Or a public persona they’ve imagined? In reality, the people sitting on the stage aren’t the kind of great people as the fans imagined, or even worse than the fans themselves……”
Once she opened her mouth, random words came out. In the end, her voice became smaller and smaller and her head continued to droop– —
She didn’t raise her head until she felt a hand pressing down on her hand which was aimlessly rubbing her hair. She confusedly looked up into a pair of familiar dark brown pupils.
Tong Yao: “Cheng Ge, what’s wrong?”
Lu Sicheng said without any expression: “I should be the one asking you that question.”
Tong Yao quieted down.
Then she started talking.
