Chapter 171 (3)
After she sent the message, Tong Yao stuffed her cell phone back into her pocket. She took a look at the time. It was 8:50 pm US time and already the next day back in China.
Hrm, the birthday wish she received from her boyfriend was: I have a feeling that my sexual orientation is subtly wavering.
— –Tong Yao by now had accepted the scenario that her 20th birthday would go by in such an odd vibe.
……
Tong Yao refocused on learning to be a better support. She didn’t feel it was a big deal spending her birthday like this and concentrated on discussing with Little Fatty where to put wards and how to do so throughout the night……
When it was almost 11 o’clock, Lu Sicheng came back– —
Tong Yao was quite familiar with the sound of Lu Sicheng’s footsteps. She knew he had come back when she heard the footsteps outside the door. She didn’t look up when she heard the door open, instead she was looking down on her notebook marking a red dot on a map of Summoner’s Rift she had drawn based on instructions from Little Fatty to show that “at this time there should be a ward here”……
Little Fatty was babbling: “No matter whether the game is going well or not, if there’s no ward here after 25 minutes, then the round will be over and they’ll all blame the support.” He suddenly stopped talking……
Tong Yao was baffled and looked up at Little Fatty. Little Fatty was looking at the person who had just entered the room dumbfoundedly. Tong Yao blinked and turned her head, ready to say: “What took you so long?” The words stuck in her mouth after she just said “What took you,” she wasn’t able to finish the question– —
The man standing at the door looked like he had run all the way back.
A few buttons on his team shirt, which was usually all buttoned up, had been unbuttoned probably because he had gotten hot while running. The shirt was a little wrinkled and moved slightly up and down with his breathing……
The look in his eye was still nonchalant as usual.
It was a sharp contrast to the big bouquet of red roses in his hand– –Just imagined if someone placed a huge bouquet of bright red roses right next to a coffin. Wouldn’t that look bizarre? That was how bizarre Lu Sicheng looked right now……
“What’s this?” Little Fatty looked baffled: “In me the tiger sniffs the rose?”[1]
Lu Sicheng didn’t even bother giving him a look. He paused a bit then started to walk into the room– –Tong Yao then discovered that there was a huge cake box in his other hand. He walked straight to Tong Yao, put the cake box on her lap, and stuffed the roses into her arms: “Happy twentieth birthday. From now on, no one can say that I’ve fooled an underage girl.”
Everyone: “……”
Tong Yao: “……”
There were a few seconds of silence in the room.
Little Fatty was the first one to make a sound: “Whoa.” He widened his eyes, probably feeling that it wasn’t a bad deal to trade crackers with a cake…… Tong Yao at first went blank from the overpowering fragrance of the roses. She looked up at the face behind the flowers and stammered to ask: “How, how, how did you know?”
Lu Sicheng bent over to give her a kiss on her lips: “Your id card is in your wallet. I took it out to take a look. I was just seeing how ugly your picture looked.”
Tong Yao: “………………………………………………”
Tong Yao, with flowers in arms, still didn’t fully comprehend what had just happened.
Lu Sicheng took the chance to give her another kiss: “Happy Birthday.”
His lips were a little cool, but his breath was scorching hot and a little unsteady from running all the way back here…… Tong Yao blinked and finally realized that Lu Sicheng didn’t go back to the hotel, but, after seeing her id card, had hastily gone to buy all these things for her birthday.
The surrounding teammates also realized it was Tong Yao’s birthday. They stood up to wish their temporary support a happy birthday. Lu Sicheng took the flowers from her hand and opened the cake box for her: “Fortunately I ran fast, otherwise the store would’ve closed– –”
Before he finished, the person who was standing next to the cake reached over with both arms, circled them around his neck, and offered her warm and soft lips…… Lu Sicheng was slightly dumbfounded at first, then a faint smile appeared on his expressionless face. The corners of his eyes softened and he deepened the kiss– —
